Privacy policy

Petrol.cy is operated by SiteGuarding (the "operator"). This page explains what data the site processes and why.

Your location

If you allow it, your browser shares your position with the site so we can compute distances and rank stations near you. The position is used for that request only; it is not stored on our servers.

Map tiles

The map images are loaded from CARTO (basemaps.cartocdn.com), which receives your IP address and the requested map area in order to deliver them, as any website does. Map data: OpenStreetMap contributors.

Local storage

Your preferences (language, theme, favourite stations, cookie choice, onboarding state) are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device.

Analytics and advertising cookies

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (aggregated page views, device and country). Where advertising is shown, Google AdSense may set cookies to measure and, if you agree, personalise ads. Nothing is loaded before you accept, and you can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page or in the map settings. See Google's privacy policy for how Google processes data.

Cookie-free statistics

Without cookies and without personal data, we count per day how often our embeddable widget is loaded and on which websites (the address of the website only, not of its visitors), and how many price alerts are requested, confirmed, cancelled and sent.

Contact forms

When you write to us we store your name, email address, message, language and IP address so we can reply and prevent abuse. Messages are kept for up to 24 months.

Telegram bot

If you use our Telegram bot (@PetrolCY_bot), we store your Telegram chat ID, the language and fuel you chose and your price alerts, so that we can answer you and send the alerts. We do not store your name, username or phone number. A location you send is used once to find stations near you and is not stored. Messages pass through Telegram under its own privacy policy. Send /stop to the bot to delete all of this at once.

Businesses that advertise with us

If your business advertises with us or talks to us about it, we keep the business details and the contact details of the people we deal with (name, role, email, phone), our correspondence and the agreement, to run the cooperation and the invoicing. Only our team sees them. We keep them while we work together and afterwards as long as accounting law requires. To ask for a copy or a correction, write to hello@petrol.cy.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data by contacting hello@petrol.cy.

Data source

Station and price data comes from the Cyprus Fuel Price Observatory and contains no personal data.
